Avant-Garde Emails

Abstract, watercolorlike background with words: Avant-Garde Emails

Well, maybe they are not avant-garde…

A couple of months ago, I did a post on avant-garde Excels. This one is about avant-garde emails, although they are really not avant-garde per se, but they are unusual company emails in that people don’t usually do these visual types of emails.

Why am I doing this? One, curiosity as to how, those who send out advertising emails, do they do it, and two, exploration of the idea of visual communications. I’m wondering if we can apply some of this stuff when we do our reporting. Can we juice up our communications so that they stand out and become more relevant?

I have to admit, these are not emails that one just bang out on the computer. It takes some time and effort to create the images, mostly in gimp (but I’m sure one can do it using Adobe products). Also, if you do regular reporting every week, it is hard to add the storytelling aspect to these communications, especially week after week after week.

This is going to be a challenge to write relevant emails that are still interesting without being too far out for the corporate world. My eventual goal is to parlay these visuals into client communications so we can stand out.
