Is He Being Elliptical?

I was recently reading one of Seth Godin’s posts and the one on surveys was interesting. It had some really good pointers on census versus surveys. But the part that really stayed with me was his assertion that surveys are not anonymous. At first, I thought he was talking about generic public surveys but then he mentioned CEO. I stopped. It could be the way my mind works and so my thinking went in another direction. I wondered if he was just being obtuse.

Or, upon re-reading, he was just talking about public surveys.

Then, I just finished reading one of his books This Is Marketing. There were parts of it where I wondered if he was alluding to our current political situation in a very subtle way. Again, it could be because there is so much drama going on these days that my brain automatically goes there.

Maybe you could read what he is writing on two different levels of interpretation: the straightforward one and the elliptical one. Or there really is nothing going on.
