Microsoft Updates
Suddenly, a macro that had previously been working stopped working. It was a special macro program that I had created for someone and I was going to re-use it for another person’s request. It was the same exact set of macro codes and yet it would not work. The program would freeze.
I couldn’t see anything different between the two programs so I went back to the original program and tried running it again and found that it froze also at the same spot!
Okay, something has changed.
Then I remembered, 2 or 3 weeks ago, my work machine underwent a Microsoft update, one of those where you don’t have a choice, you are getting an update anyway. In looking at what got updated, Excel was one of a set of Microsoft Office programs that got an update. And now my macro program that previously worked many times no longer works. I’m not 100% certain that there is a connection between the two but the suggestion is very strong. I can’t help think the update did something to my machine to render the program practically inoperable.
I finally came up with an alternative but it’s not optimal. And I’m afraid the program is still sketchy.
And then today, I read an article that said the Microsoft updates have declined in quality and are buggier.
Ah, I’m not imagining things.
