The Date Logic is Killing Me

Lately I’ve been working on this reconciliation problem where I want the spreadsheet to highlight for me all potential problems with the data. A lot of the reconciliation deals with employee ids, social security numbers, dates and deductions. I want the spreadsheet to do the work for me since I actually do not have the skill to spot when something looks wrong. It’s really hard to see through the sea of numbers and pinpoint something off, so I make Excel do the work. But the problem is really complicated because there are so many ways in which the data could be wrong. This project been taking me a long time to come up with something sort of kind of workable and it’s still not where I would like it to be. The dates are the most problematic. Maybe that’s why I haven’t felt like doing anything but delve into junk reading, just to get away from the fact that this is really hard and discouraging.

But once I’ve nailed the problem, complete with macros to develop the report for research (cross my fingers), it will be awesome. I would like for the file to be a push of a button and ta da the recon is done. I can only dream.
