The World Just Got Dark
This is really distressing how dark the world became this week. I can’t write about anything because of this heaviness of heart.
Why did he have to invade Ukraine? He already has lots of money and power. I haven’t read of anything that suggested that Ukraine provoked this conflict. They do not deserve this.
I was hoping that with a subsiding coronavirus, we could start to see sunlight breaking over the world after two years of fear and anxiety, but now we have a new set of worries.
I have to say that this century, at least the first part of the century, has proven to be awful, starting with 9/11. 9/11 is US centric but it did pull the world into combating terrorism. Then we moved into the Great Recession before the first decade was over. That Great Recession’s years long duration probably created a generation or two who distrust capitalism. Then the Arab Spring broke out which unfortunately led to atrocious killing and the rise of ISIS. And then we encountered the coronavirus pandemic of the last two years, greatly impacting people’s mental health, economic health and lives. We are not yet over the pandemic.
And now there is some talk of WWIII. Like we need another set of problems. On top of an impending climate change series of disasters.
At least some Russians are opposed to this action, so that is somewhat reassuring in the sense not everybody in Russia is behind this invasion.
I just wish he would suddenly realize that this is not to his advantage.
