2025 Hurricane season: Atlantic wakes up

2025 hurricane season is waking up

We have now reached mid-August, and the Atlantic has now woken up with the first hurricane in sight. Yes, it is now a Cat 1 hurricane.

Sigh…now I have to worry about being hit by a hurricane from now to maybe the end of November. It is especially worrisome on two levels:

  1. This current hurricane is slated to become a major hurricane (Cat 3 and above). Spaghetti models suggest that it may go all the way up to Cat 5. The first hurricane of the season is projected to ramp up to Cat 5, just like last year’s June/July Beryl. Beryl was a Cat 5 in the Caribbean
  2. FEMA may not be much help. From what I have read, FEMA had denied assistance to the tornado victims, and they did not arrive to rescue the Texas Hill Country 4th of July flooding victims until 3 days later. That history draws big concerns.

With so much going on – climate change, AI domination, changing political winds – it’s a wonder how average people around the world are going to survive these various storms. We may end up having just the wealthy being alive.
