I Can’t Hear You
There was a period of time when the school boards were hearing a lot of displeasure from the parents regarding “critical race theory” and the tone seemed kind of threatening. There was an aura of violence and even one parent threatened about bringing her guns to school the next day. These parents, who were mostly conservatives, were making their viewpoints very known in a very threatening way such that some school board members were thinking of quitting.
I kind of hoped the same would happen right after the Uvalde mass shooting at a Texas school but over guns, and without the threat of violence.
But there was just silence; only two articles, one of which was about Senator Grassley and his constituents in Iowa, appeared in the news.
We will continue to have mass shootings until these conservatives start demanding their representatives and Senators deal with the school violence issue. Nothing will get done until the gun owners, which are mostly on the conservative side, decide to give in on some regulations. They say in polls that they are open to some kind of regulations – maybe red flag laws, maybe ban on ARs, maybe expanded background check. I’m not real sure which it is they want, but polls keep saying some 80 to 90 percent want some kind of gun regulation.
Nothing will happen until the conservatives make those demands. The liberals are already demanding for something to be done; I think liberals are waiting for the conservatives to join in. Liberals might not like or agree with the solutions conservatives bring up, but they may be willing to just try something to move the needle a little. Just do something.
At this point, it’s on the conservative voters to do something. We can’t do anything without them.
Make noise, like those CRT agitators but without the violence because right now we can’t hear you.
