Major Announcement!

So, I just need to add some levity here. Been pretty busy lately so a little humor is in play.

Besides, the news commentators’ responses to that “Major Announcement” is kind of funny. You generally don’t see them laughing, shaking their heads, smirking. I don’t know if it is just my newsfeed or it is the news media, but the discussion about that “Major Announcement” has been non-stop.

There are two things that struck me as really funny:

  • The artwork of those trading cards is really humorously bad. I don’t know why but they are just hilarious. I’m also kind of surprised that for someone who cares about images (like how one looks on television), he let some obviously bad artwork go into the trading cards/NFTs. His head, even though it is connecting to the body, it still appears to be disconnected from the body. Something is off.
  • The responses from the far right struck me as funny for some reason. The far right recognizes for what that announcement is – a grift – and they had some pretty choice words about it. But the really funny moment was when Steve Bannon said “I can’t do this anymore”. At least they are recognizing for what that announcement is – I never thought they would. I think the mistake the former guy made was in making such a grand statement such as “Major Announcement” and then allowing a full day to pass, thus ginning up the emotions of his supporters. NFTs with bad art was probably a huge let down after breathless speculation about what he could be doing next.

But, not everybody saw this as funny or a grift. He sold 45,000 NFTs for at least $99 in less than 24 hours (I think less than 24 hours). So, somebody thinks these cards are a great thing to hold. It could be supporters with money who wants to lend support to the former guy. Or it could be those naive voters, maybe those who go to the rallys in blue, red and white patriotic get ups. Based on videos I’ve seen, some come across as naive; thus, they may be the ones buying the NFTs. It doesn’t appear to be the far-right guys; they have enough presence of mind to recognize the grift.

Now, it’s back to being busy and I try to get some stuff done. The light moment is over.
