November – the last month of hurricane season

We are now in November so the hurricanes and tropical storms should start really dissipating but, somehow, with those really warm waters out there – parts of the Caribbean is around the mid-80s, warm enough for hurricane fuel – I don’t feel like we can breathe a sigh of relief. I think about Otis on the Pacific side, starting off as a tropical storm 11 in the morning and then ramping up to Cat 5 hurricane 12 hours later and hitting Acapulco.

Acapulco had no warning.

The weather has been really weird, or maybe I should say extreme:

There was that heat dome sitting over Texas, the Midwest, and Louisiana (I think that is the approximate area) for roughly 3 to 4 months, non-stop.

We had that fire in Maui, Hawaii that basically flared up so quickly that people didn’t have time to escape.

There was that ferocious storm – a Medicane – in the Mediterranean that hit Greece and then Libya. If I remember correctly, this Storm Daniel dumped so much rain, more than usual, that the poorly maintained dams broke, sweeping out maybe one fifth of the city’s population out to sea.

And then Otis flared up in the Pacific, turning from a tropical storm at 11 in the morning into a Cat 5 roughly 12 hours later, aiming for Acapulco. The people of Acapulco did not get the warning until just a few hours before the storm hit.

Those are the ones I’m aware of, although I do believe there were some other extreme weathers in China, India, Japan and Indonesia, but you know, everything starts to blend, and I can only keep up. I tend to focus on Europe and our side of the world.

I do believe Brazil underwent some extreme fires just recently.

Anyway, with all of that strange and extreme weather this summer, I’m hesitant to relax my guard regarding the weather out in the Atlantic, Caribbean or Pacific. They say the hurricane season is over by end of November, but I do wonder if that end date will be changing. Right now the Caribbean and Pacific are extremely active, and the waters are very very warm. There is nothing to say that the season will end by November 30th.

I really hate this – the world seems to have gone crazy. The weather is crazy, and people are acting crazy.
