Temporary Reprieve

This past week has been insane! I mean, what happened to people that we have reached such a crescendo of insanity?

On Sunday, a tweet went out talking about how Tuesday was going to be “Power Plant day and Bridge day, all wrapped in one, in Iran. There will be nothing like it!!! Open the Fuckin’ Strait, you crazy bastards, or you’ll be living in Hell – JUST WATCH. Praise be to Allah….”

According to the experts, this kind of action would be tantamount to a war crime, hurting, possibly killing, millions of Iranian. The war, instead of calming down, seemed to be escalating, with our military chief panicking.

It felt like a panicky tweet. This is kind of ratcheting up my anxiety about the state of the world.

On Tuesday morning, we get: “A whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again. I don’t want that to happen but it probably will…”

The tone of that tweet sounded more dire. If an entire civilization is to die (by the way a 7,000 years old civilization), then the only way to get there is by nuclear bombs – at least to me. I have no knowledge about military but wouldn’t killing an entire civilization require some kind of nuclear bomb?

On top of that, I’m reading that the stars of the MAGA world (Alex Jones, Marjorie Taylor Green, Tucker Carlson, Megan Kelly, Candance Owens) were declaring that this tweet was insane, were calling for the 25th Amendment, and called him Antichrist. The panicky behavior of the MAGAs really worried me because they are recognizing true danger. The scales have fallen from their eyes. I hope they can convince the rest of the flock that this behavior is not normal behavior and is very dangerous behavior.

I do not like the Iranian religious leadership, but I do not want the Iranian people to be hurt, devastated. On Tuesday, when I saw videos depicting the Iranians crowding around the power installation as if to protect them, I just cried.

Fortunately, a group of people had figured out a face-saving way to pull back and create a ceasefire. Now, I don’t think this ceasefire will last long, especially if you read closely the proposed deal. I can’t imagine our leaders or Netanyahu agreeing to such a deal: it looks like all of the terms were in Iran’s favor. But I’m just happy that this glossing helped everyone pull back from the brink.

But this is only temporary – a two-week reprieve until the negotiators come up with a real solution.

To add to the insanity of the times, Melania held a surprise – very surprising – press conference to declare she did not know Epstein, and she met her husband through some other happenstance fate. The war had successfully knocked off the topic of Epstein files from the news and then she brought it back to the fore!

What is going on?

Of course, the reporters will now dig into this mystery. Both the war and the Epstein files need to be at the forefront of discussion. Congress should continue to press for the release of the remainder the Epstein files and subpoena others to testify. We need to get justice for the survivors and to hold “rich” monsters accountable.

So far, April is turning out to be a doozy, just as my friend predicted. I think she said the 25th was to be the peak insanity. Tuesday was bad; I don’t want to think about what could be worse than threatening annihilation of a country and then just pull back at the brink.

I hope people’s eyes are starting to open at the dangers we’re in.
