There is a Limit to How Long a Macro Can Be
This is going to be a quickie post because I did not do anything exciting. Well, I did go to a conference but I didn't get enough materials to create an interesting post - or a post as interesting as I can make it. So this will be a very short post.
A couple of posts ago I mentioned that I thought I would try creating a macro that would be a guided review of the ACA reporting to make sure the formulas applied the rules correctly. It's turning out that there is a lot to review. I'm up to about 100 things to review and I have at last 55 more things to review. That's a lot. The problem stems from how the business runs in this industry so we have a lot of hire/terms within a year. We have quite a few people who don't stay around for long - probably because they are students and at that young age are disinclined to stick around when they don't like the job. Or there may be other factors going on.
Whatever the case may be, there's a lot to review. If I were more confident of the date data, maybe I wouldn't do such a thorough review but I don't have such confidence.
Which means the macro becomes very long. And I found out this week that one can't have such a long macro. I had to break it up into mini-macros and have the main macro call those mini-macros. It's actually a good way of organizing the program so I don't have a problem with that and I think you are supposed to do that anyway.
So now, I'll just have to see how many macros I can stuff in a module.
