Went on a retreat

I have been away for a while: I’ve been running various errands and then I had to get ready for a business retreat. Now I’m spending time recovering from the retreat and trying to get caught up.

The business retreat was nice because I got to meet face to face with some of the people I help. I use the phone and sometimes Go To Meeting to help the managers, so it was good to put a face to the voice. Most of the time we are so busy doing what needs doing, and we’re not co-located to enable the water cooler talk. A retreat allows us to just get together and talk.

We had some corporate training on marketing and policy but we were not lectured to. Instead, we got into groups and we worked on putting together marketing ideas. This was very smart because it allowed cross-fertilization of ideas from one business site to another. There were some really good ones out there. The policy section was dealt with by having a contest where a question was read out and whoever answered the question correctly wins the prize. This question and answer method ensured we paid attention to this section of the training.

All in all, it was a good retreat but now I’m glad to be back. I just have to get caught up with everything, including this website.
